A recessional hymn to solemnize the close of a workshop, retreat, conference, seminar, or political rally. May also be sung privately for solace in times of doubt. The tune is that of a silly old Christian hymn, here put to better use.
Blest be the lie that binds
Our hearts in mendacious love;
A fellowship of duped mankind,
Out from we shall ne’re be talked of.
Before our Master’s throne,
We’re taught our ardent prayers;
Our fears, our hopes, our aims, our groans,
Our comforts, and our cares.
We share one mutual foe,
One mutual hatred swear;
We answer truth with furious blows
Then throw it down the stair.
To hear foul truth be told,
It gives us inward pain;
But glorious lies shall always bind,
If we their truth but feign.
