Adminutia: Site troubles

We’ve had some reports of difficulties accessing the Orthosphere in connection with our recent change in aesthetics. In addition to restoring our lost recent comments and blogroll widgets (the latter of which we’ve updated to include a few new links), we’ve also discovered that our particular template is not really set up to be viewed on anything older than Internet Explorer 9. Those of you still using earlier versions of Internet Explorer and having trouble with the site are advised to update their browser.

  1. I’m not sure if anyone else is getting this, though, but Internet Explorer has been telling me that the Orthosphere has some sort of certificate error. If I’m not mistaken, I think this started about the same time as the new layout.

  2. Something I’m really not enjoying about the new settings is how everything that does not have the mouse over it fades. The font is hard enough to read as it is; graying it out just makes things worse.

Having said that, I do appreciate how hard the administrators work to make this site as good as it is, and despite my tone, I hope that I am making a constructive comment.

    • I think that’s a new feature, part of WordPress’ update to the template. We didn’t decide on it.

Part of the reason we chose this template is because it’s very user-friendly, which is important as some of us actually blog from our phones.

      • Yeah, “feature.” I know that it was not your choice, but that it got imposed. Other than that, it is a relatively easy-to-use site, though I wish there were a preview feature for comments, so I can proofread (especially my HTML). Still, if it makes it easier for the moderators/owners to use, I’m fine with it.
